Comics are a visual medium, but sound is an essential element . A comic with the sound effects removed might be a significantly different reading experience, almost as though a central character had been plucked out. Sound effects are a very effective way of immersing the reader in the world and allows them to play apart as how I read the sound effect 'THWIP' might be completely different to how you read it, it brings us back to earlier memories, happier memories where when we played with our toys we might make the sound of a lightsaber or the sound of a batarang flying through the air, personally I believe much like live action and animated projects are lessened with the departure of sound effects so is a graphic novel, thats why I have decided to use them.
